A staple of TotallyCigars.com is, or will become, cigar reviewing. In our reviews of cigars, we strive to give the cigar enjoying masses an idea of what to expect before trying a new type of cigar. In order to understand our reviews, and therefore understand the cigars we are reviewing, you need to understand our rating system. Below is a rundown of the TotallyCigars.com rating system.

  • Brand

  • The Brand name of the Cigar

  • Size/Shape

  • The size (Length and Ring Gauge), and shape (Torpedo, Pyramid, etc). When possible we will use common size/shape names such as churchill or robusto.

  • Wrapper

  • The type of wrapper, including color and any other pertinent details.

  • Body

  • Body refers to the strength or intensity of a cigar. The ring gauge (thickness) of the cigar can give a general hint of how full the body is. The larger the ring size, generally, the fuller, smoother, cooler, and slower the smoke will be.

Body is rated on a 5 point scale. 5 being a full bodied, highly intense cigar, and 1 being a weak cigar.

  • Flavor

  • The actual taste of a cigar. The wrapper, filler, and binder will combine to provide the flavor of a cigar.

Flavor is rated on a 5 point scale. 5 being the best flavor, 1 being the worst. This is highly subjective, so a description of the flavor will also be provided.

  • Draw

  • Draw refers to how easy a cigar is to smoke. This is rated on a 5 point scale. A 5 would be like drinking water through a straw, while a 1 would be like drinking a thick milkshake through the same straw.
